- “For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory.” 2 Cor. 4:17
I have a love/hate relationship with this time of year. After the long sludge of winter, I long for the bright sunny days of Spring. The trees bud, the grass greens, and the air feels so fresh, for ONE DAY AT A TIME! We get a nice, sunny, warm day followed by cooler, rainy, dreary days. Then repeat. A few weeks ago, we had a couple gorgeous days. I basked in the rays of the sun and started planning for my latest hiking excursion. But then the next morning, I woke up and stepped outside for a good morning breath of air and was slapped in the face with the bitter cold winds. It just made me mad. I was in a bad mood all day because of that moment. Then a couple days later, the sun and warm was back. Yet, I still remember the cold.
But, it reminded me of how I approach life sometimes. God gives me so many blessings. I have so much to be thankful for. I enjoy His presence and love on a daily basis, but… there are some days when life doesn’t go exactly to plan. An unexpected bill. An unforeseen health crisis. A relationship turns bad. Bad news from family or our job. Then all of a sudden, we wonder if God truly loves us. We tend to have such a short memory when it comes to God’s goodness.
We forget about all the times He has shown us who He is and how much He loves us. We have tendency to only see what is directly in front of us. But sometimes, what is in front of us is only part of the whole picture. It really is just an opportunity for God to work in our lives and remind us how great He really is.
So, whatever you are facing today, remember tomorrow is another day. God is not surprised by what you are going through, but is already in motion working to show you Himself. Get ready. He is here.
Following Him,
Jeff
