“As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for You, God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I come and appear before God?” Psalm 42:1-2
The is the year where we are laser focused on knowing God. We are enjoying His presence each and every day. The interesting thing about this is that the more we rediscover who He is, the more we long for Him. You will want to know more and more.
This knowledge is an incredible thing, but it comes with a whole range of experiences. There will be times where the delight of knowing Him will wash over you and you will bask in His presence. There will be other times when He will surprise you in such a way that it will make you wonder if you really knew Him at all. There will be times when He will amaze you by the work He does in your life and draws you even closer. There will be moments when you will feel convicted and know you will have to make a decision of either obedience or rebellion.
Then there are rare intimate moments when God shows up, and the intensity of the moment will be more than you can bear. It is there in the shadow of His glory when the overwhelming glimpse of His nature will shatter you into a million pieces. This is a scary, frightening, awe inspiring place to be. It will cause us to feel unworthy, sinful, and loaded down with shame.
But…in those rare moments, He always draws near to us, transforms us, and makes us into something new. These are glorious moments which are difficult but completely necessary for us to become all He desires us to be. Don’t run from those moments, but long for Him in every way, and in every day.
Following Him,
Pastor Jeff
