“I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2:2
For the past 2 months we have reminded ourselves of the principle of covering everything in prayer. It has been a wonderful reminder to make we are spending the time we should in connecting with the Father everyday, all day. Hopefully, you have spent those extra 5 minutes a day and have reaped the benefits from it.
Now, not forgetting Prayer, but building upon it’s foundation, we remind ourselves to keep everything Gospel-centered. The gospel is the distinctive which makes us different from all other “charity” organizations. It is the life changing message of Jesus and His work which gives us the opportunity to be freed from our sin and to live in the light of His love and grace.
It is important that we keep it front and center in everything we do. There shouldn’t be a single activity we do that doesn’t have the message of Christ at its core in order to share the message with all those around. At the same time it is important to know that the gospel isn’t just for a lost world. The gospel should and does affect us everyday. It frames our words and actions to conform to how Christ wants us to become.
So the challenge as we focus on being “gospel-centered” these next 2 months is to look for ways to incorporate the gospel in all we do and say in our daily lives. So much so, that the gospel becomes so natural for us to talk about we don’t really have to even think about it because the words simply flow.
Be praying now about how you can do that as we work through the process of becoming gospel centered these next 2 months.
Following Him,
Pastor Jeff
